Children’s Ministry – March Theme: The Forgiving Father (Luke 15:11–32)
This March, our Children’s Ministry will explore the powerful parable Jesus shares in Luke 15:11–32 — often known as The Forgiving Father. Through this story, children will discover the depth of God’s grace, the beauty of repentance, and the joy of restoration. They’ll learn that no matter how far someone wanders, God’s love never stops pursuing His children.
Using our Rotation Model, kids will experience the lesson in four engaging and memorable ways:
📖 Storytelling Station
At Storytelling, children will dive into the parable in creative and interactive ways. Through drama, visual storytelling, and guided discussion, they will step into the sandals of each character — the younger son, the older brother, and the forgiving father. This station helps children understand not just what happened, but why it matters. They’ll explore questions about forgiveness, jealousy, grace, and how God responds when we turn back to Him.
🔬 Science Station
At Science, kids will see real-life object lessons that connect biblical truth to the world around them. Through hands-on experiments, they’ll explore themes like brokenness and restoration, distance and return, and how things can be transformed. These tangible demonstrations help children grasp abstract spiritual concepts — like grace and forgiveness — in ways they can see and touch.
🎨 Art Station
Creativity takes center stage at Art! Children will express what they’ve learned through meaningful craft projects that reinforce the lesson. Whether illustrating the journey home, designing symbols of forgiveness, or creating visual reminders of God’s love, each project is designed to help the story stick long after Sunday is over. Art gives children space to reflect personally on what forgiveness means in their own lives.
🍞 Cooking Station
At Cooking, kids will connect the story to the celebration at the end of the parable — when the father joyfully welcomes his son home. Through simple, hands-on food activities, children will experience the idea of celebration, provision, and welcome. This station emphasizes that forgiveness leads to joy and that God delights in restoring His children.
Throughout the month, our goal is for every child to walk away knowing this truth: God’s love is constant, His forgiveness is real, and His arms are always open.
We can’t wait to journey through this beautiful story together!
